Top Headlines - 05.05.2016

1. C Raja Mohan, a foreign policy strategist, has been named as the inaugural Marshall Bouton Asia Fellow of the prestigious Chicago Council on Global Affairs. 

2. The Exim Bank has extended a line of credit (LoC) worth USD 1 billion to Mongolia for developing its railways and related infrastructure. 

3. As part of the initiative of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry to provide easy access to the public on export and import trends of India the Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman launched a dashboard on EXIM Analytics. This is a portal developed by the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics, at the instance of the Ministry. 

4. Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Minister of Railways launched one E-enabled application, namely, Project Management & Information System (PMIS) for proper Monitoring of all the Railway projects throughout the country. 

5. Maharashtra leg-spinner Sunil Gudge passed away. He was 56. 

6. Olympian and World champion Long Jumper Mike Powell named as the 'International Event Ambassador' for the 9th edition of the TCS World 10Km Run. 

7. The Government of Bangladesh granted in-principle approval for the first phase of Reliance Power's gas based power project of 750 MW in Meghnaghat, around 40 km South-East of Dhaka. This is the largest foreign direct investment in Bangladesh with a potential investment of over $1.3 billion.

8. India held on to its second position, while South Africa dropped three places to sixth in the latest Test cricket rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
